How does AI usage work?
Each paid plan includes a monthly amount of AI usage on the models we host. Each reply uses part of it once it finishes, depending on the model and how long the question and answer are: bigger models use more, and the model menu shows how capable each one is with 1 to 5 dots. Each reply shows the share of your plan it used, and the editor shows how much you have used as a percentage, with a bar that turns amber at 75% and red at 90%.
What is Auto?
Auto picks the model for you: a fast, low-cost model, with a second one from another provider ready when the first is busy. It is the default in the model menu and counts toward your plan's usage like any model.
What happens when I reach my plan's usage?
Quill models, Auto included, pause until your plan renews or you top up. Your own API keys and your Claude Code plan keep working, because they never count toward it.
Can I use my own API keys or my Claude Code plan?
Yes, on every plan, at no extra cost. Those requests go straight from your computer to the provider and never count toward your plan's usage. Your keys never leave your computer.
What does one request cost?
It depends on the model and how long the question and answer are. Each reply shows the share of your plan it used (for example ~0.4%), and before a big job the chat box shows an estimate, so you can pick a smaller model for simple jobs.
When do Team and the bigger Max plans arrive?
Team, Max 5×, Max 10× and Max 20× are coming soon. Until then, Max gives you more than twice Pro's AI usage, and you can top up any time.
Does unused usage expire?
On Pro and Max, unused monthly AI usage carries over and stays usable for 3 months.
Can I change plans?
Yes, any time from your account page. Moving up starts at once: you pay the difference for the rest of the month, keep what you had not used of your old plan, and get the new plan's AI usage for the days left. Moving down takes effect when your current billing period ends, so you keep what you paid for until then, and unused AI usage carries over for 3 months.
Do you offer yearly billing?
Yes. Paying yearly gives you two months free: Pro is $200 a year and Max is $400 a year.
Do you give refunds?
No. Payments for plans, renewals and top-ups are not refundable, so try Quill with the free 7-day trial first. When you cancel, you keep your plan until the end of the period you paid for. See the terms.
Can I cancel any time?
Yes, from your account page. You keep your plan until the end of the period you paid for, then the editor keeps working with your own keys, local models and Claude Code plan.
